Photos from India
Day 5, 6, & 7

This is the courtyard of the hotel we stayed at during the wedding.
maybe you can tell from the photos, Bodhgaya was very flat and green,
but Jaipur had lots of mountains and was very arid.

These are Hindu statues

This is my only photo of the elephant ride Amelia and I went on.
I know amelia has photos of this and of the Japanese Temple in bodhgaya
too. I'll try and get them so I can put them up too. The elephant
ride was fun. Amelia seemed really happy that she got to ride an
elephant.

These are photos of the Wedding, the girl in orange is the bride.
The man on the left is the minister, and the man in white next to
the woman in pink is the father and mother.

It surprised me at first to see all of the backwards swastikas everywhere,
but after a while I got used to them.

The oldest siter is putting toe rings on the bride in this shot,
but I like it because you can see the henna on thier hands.

I believe this is the mother.

This is the fresh henna that Amelia got just hours before the start
of the main cerimony. everyone was alittle upset that they didn't
get a chance to finish the designs. Its tradition that both side
of the finger-tips be dyed black, not just one side.

can you see the swan?

Here is the bride again, but this time in her formal Sari (wedding
dress shaped like a big scarf).

And So, the groom arrives with his 16 piece band, and his white
horse, and his personal elephant.

truely king for a day...

I believe this is ethier a grandmother, or the groom's mother.

The bride's party dances to intice (seduce?) the groom.

Amelia, looking striking in her formal Sari. This was a gift from
the brides's sister.

This is the final part of the wedding.

walk around in a circle seven times and you are now man and wife.

THis is from the outskirts of Jaipur.

This is the Water Palace in Jaipur.

Amelia and I in front of the Wind Palace in Jaipur.

Jaipur is a city surround by mountain on all sides. On the tops
of those mountains li vast walls and forts.

Detail of a fort.

This is a photo of us on the top of the Wind Palace, with Jantar
Mantar in the background.

This is a photo of Amelia, Dr. Singh, and I at Jantar Mantar. Jantar
Mantar is an old observatory created to study the stars and the
earth. the structure behind us is a large sun dail the is accurate
up to 2 minutes.

Here we are in front of Amber Fort, which is really more lik a palace.

These are the good monkeys. They were very nice, they walked around
the Amber Fort like normal people would. just hanging out, having
a grand o'time. I was told later on that these monkies can be trained
do things...

The view from the very very top of Amber Fort

Looking back down on Amber Fort

Tower in the distance.

This is a Hindu temple that had a small shrine to Jesus in it

THis is a photo of Galta, just outside of Jaipur

These are the bad monkeys, that poop everywhere and are really annoying. not to mention that never come alone.

See! gangs of monkeys by the natrual springs
