A few weeks ago I came home and in the lobby of my building I found several EMTs and police officers rushing into the building. Evidently the building manager had found someone dead in their apartment and had called the cops. I was curious about it today so I looked up the Winchester police report...
Police responded to a Swanton Street condominium unit at about 2:25 p.m. for a well-being check. According to the report, a 54-year-old man had not shown up to work for several days and his employer - the Suffolk County Court - was concerned about him. The man had apparently suffered a recent heart attack and had diabetes. The last time the court had heard from him was Dec. 13. When police arrived to the man's apartment they found the door locked, and his car parked in the lot. An officer was able to make entry to the home through a sliding glass door and found the man dead in his living room. He had apparently been dead for 16 days, according to the report. The Boston Medical Examiner's Office took custody of the body and will perform an autopsy.
